JEAN JUREK, MS, RHIA, CPC
Jean Jurek has over 25 years of experience in medical coding, auditing and education in the health information profession. Ms. Jurek was previously a Professor in the Health Information Technology Program at Erie Community College for 20+ years. She has recently retired from the college to focus on expanding the scope and abilities of JJA. Jean has completed the AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS training program along with the AAPC Boot camp for ICD-10. Ms. Jurek has held the position of President of the Health Information Management Association of Western New York (HIMAWNY), and received their Distinguished Member Award in 2005. Jean has served as Education Director and Finance Director for the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA). She is also a participating member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and is a recent member of many other professional organizations. Her latest project was to co-author a medical coding textbook titled “Conquer Medical Coding 2016: A Critical Thinking Approach with Coding Simulations”, published in 2016 by F.A. Davis. In addition to managing her business, Jean continues to enjoy the opportunities to speak at local, regional and national conferences on key areas of medical coding. Her Master’s Degree was awarded from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in 2000. Jean resides in Western New York with her family and enjoys playing tennis and traveling.
BOB MAJEWSK, RHIT
Bob Majewski is a senior coding specialist at Jean Jurek Associates, Inc. Bob has a well- rounded experience in all aspects of coding, documentation, and revenue cycle from the production to the director level. His background includes more than 20 years of HIM experience. Bobs coding experience ranges from hospital (inpatient and outpatient), ambulatory surgeries, and observation. His coding background is strong in both CPT and ICD-10. As a revenue cycle manager, Bob has extensive experience in IPPS and OPPS, as well as improvement in the revenue cycle.
Bob received his AAS in HIT from Trocaire College in 1995, the same year that he received his RHIT certification. Bob is currently an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA), and also the Health Information Management Association of Western New York (HIMAWNY) in which he currently holds the position of treasurer. Bob has also been an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer since 2011.
Bob’s outside interests include camping, fishing, and otherwise enjoying the parks and waterfront of WNY.
DENNIS BREEN, CHC
Dennis Breen is a Senior Consultant at Jean Jurek Associates, Inc., and has nineteen years’ experience in the healthcare industry. He has provided assistance in the areas of financial analysis, Medicare and Medicaid regulatory compliance, revenue recovery and various other industry specific needs.
Dennis is certified in Health Care Compliance and managed Health Care Compliance departments for community hospitals.
Dennis is an active member of AHIMA –American Health Information Association, HFMA- HealthCare Finance Management Association, AAPC-American Academy of Professional Coders and HCCA- Health Care Compliance Association. He received his Bachelor of Science from St. Francis College – Business Management
MARY EPLETT, RHIT
Mary Eplett, a Senior Consultant at Jean Jurek Associates, Inc. has extensive experience in medical coding and the health information profession. Her coding experience includes Ambulatory Surgery, Emergency Department, Inpatient, and Evaluation Management coding for Facility and Physician Services. Mary received her degree in Health Information Management from Erie Community College. She is currently an active member of the American Health Information Association (AHIMA). In her spare time, Mary enjoys working out, hiking, volunteer work and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
RACHEL GENTNER, RHIT
Rachel Gentner, a Senior Consultant at Jean Jurek Associates, Inc., has over five years of experience in coding inpatient records, including major trauma, general medical, neurology, obstetrics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology and most other areas of Inpatient stays as well as Observation services. Rachel received a degree in Health Information Technology, as well as a degree in Liberal Arts and Science from Erie Community College and is a member of the American Health Information Association (AHIMA). She resides in Southern Western New York and enjoys horseback riding, reading and cutting firewood for the cold winter season.
